Parking Pass //
Faculty can register their vehicle(s) online or in person at the Vehicle Registration Office. Passes are received at the Vehicle Registration Office located in the Maintentance and Operations Building.
New Faculty Orientation and Part-Time Faculty Orientation are critical components of the onboarding process, introducing incoming faculty to the academic and administrative structure and expectations of the college. During the session, representatives from the Chancellor’s Office, the Center for Teaching Excellence, Faculty Senate, Human Resources, and various academic and student support services present information critical to successful teaching at Penn State Harrisburg.
The Center for Teaching Excellence provides supplemental orientation information regarding campus resources and teaching support through Canvas in a New Faculty Toolkit course as a supporting resource. The Center for Teaching Excellence will add all new full-time and part-time faculty to this resource in Canvas as part of Faculty Orientation.
Program Meetings
Each program will set additional meetings to discuss course offerings and teaching expectations for the upcoming semester. These meetings can be opportunities to discuss:
- The school’s grading policies and practices,
- The school’s faculty office hours expectations and policies,
- Assignment of instructors to courses,
- Syllabus structure and practices,
- And other relevant course and program information.

The start-of-semester faculty meetings set the tone for the academic year and introduce incoming faculty to peers and leadership.
LionPATH
LionPATH is Penn State’s course and enrollment management system. Locate your course schedule, classrooms, and student rosters through the LionPATH portal.
Zoom Access and Training
Log into your Penn State Zoom account to access settings, schedule meetings, and locate tutorials.
25Live
Penn State uses the 25Live scheduling system to coordinate courses, meetings, and events. Faculty can use the portal to preview their teaching spaces for the upcoming semester.
Locate Your Classrooms
Visit campus to locate your classrooms and familiarize yourself with the spaces. Previews are also available in 25Live.
Publish Your Syllabus
Canvas Access
Every Penn State course has an accompanying Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) section to host content, facilitate assessments, and grade performance.
Publish Canvas Section(s)
Publishing your Canvas section(s) no later than the first day of the course(s) will ensure that students have timely access to their materials.
Canvas Training
Canvas training is offered by the IT Learning & Development (ITLD) unit for all incoming faculty. Registration and attendance information is received via email from the Center for Teaching Excellence in late July and early August for fall semester and in December for spring semester.
Center for Teaching Excellence Instructional Design Consultation
It is highly recommended that all new faculty schedule a consultation with an instructional designer within the first few weeks of the semester. In this conversation, it may be helpful to review:

Faculty Senate
The Penn State Harrisburg Faculty Senate of The Pennsylvania State University serves as the sole legislative body representing the Penn State Harrisburg faculty as a whole. The Penn State Harrisburg Faculty Senate action is authoritative on all matters that pertain to the educational interests of Penn State Harrisburg.
Convocation
Convocation for our campus is typically the weekend before the fall semester classes start. There is no convocation ceremony in the spring semester. All faculty are encouraged to register for and attend Convocation as part of welcoming our incoming students.
